COMMITTEE REPORTS:

2020 TIGERS ON THE COLUMBIA (TOTC) Plans – Ted Knapp (via Bill Nelson as Ted was not in attendance) gave a quick confirmation of next year’s Tigers on the Columbia plans. This year’s event will be May 22, 23 and 24th. The web page is active and ready for registration. John Lund will be handling the registration process and will be sending out email blasts. He reminded everyone to register early, to make the process easier to handle. The two hotels with special event rates are the Holiday Inn (formerly the Red Lion Hotel) and the Riverside Hotel (formerly Shilo Inn). The event will be at Howard Amon Park, the same as before. We will have the bugler and engine run at noon on Saturday. Caterer will be Baby J’s BBQ, same as last year. Don Meyer is planning a cruise on Friday in the area near Richland. Ted is continuing his effort to schedule a Beer Brewery Tour as a possible activity for Sunday. Sunday’s cruise will be up the Canyon Road out of Yakima, with lunch at the Red Horse Diner in Ellensburg.

2020 EVENTS – Bill Nelson reported that the Mud Mountain Dam picnic date of Aug 22 has been secured. A cruise following the picnic to the Thunder Dome museum has also been arranged, with a discounted entry fee of $10 and reserved parking in front of the museum. Bill also expressed his desire to have a north end informal event, such as a Chuckanut Drive cruise, and a south end event, such as a drive through Point Defiance Park this year.

OLD BUSINESS:
July Meeting – Bill Nelson
reported that tentative plans have been made for the July 4 club meeting to be held at a member’s home in Kent. There is a large church parking lot next door, with a landscaped backdrop for car pictures. Confirmation is still pending on use of the lot. This will be a potluck and BYOB. For those that want to stay, there is excellent fireworks viewing of residents of the Kent valley from the berm near the church at dusk.

Historic Races at Pacific Raceway – Tom Willett reported that the Historic Races will be on July 5. In past years, club members registering their cars took as many as 5 laps around the track! He says it is great fun, with special parking in the car corral for participants. Let Tom know if you are interested in attending by phone or email (these can be found on the club roster). He believes tickets are around $30 for car and driver. He recommends arriving around 10am, with track laps starting around noon.

 NEW BUSINESS:

Club Social Media – Bill Nelson gave a synopsis of the club’s social media presence. He has updated events on the club facebook page and website. Bill also reported impressive numbers of people engaged with the facebook page, both in interest in events and followers.  We had over 1000 “likes” in about a two week period.

New Board Member at Large – Bob Stevenson announced that Steve Martin has been appointed as a Board Member at Large by the club Board of Directors. Steve will also substitute for Bob as Secretary if Bob cannot attend a club Business Meeting. Wally mentioned that John Pearson had previously held a Member at Large position, and John confirmed he was no longer active in that role.

Ann Santella gave us an update on Wally’s condition. He is improving and a get well card was circulated and signed by club members.

50/50 RAFFLE:  Gary Tischer was not present, so there was no 50/50 raffle this month.

SHOP TALK: Members shared stories about their dogs.

 MEETING ADJOURNED:
The club’s business meeting adjourned at 7:20pm by our President, Bill Nelson. Our next business meeting will be at the Round Table Pizza in Burien at 6:00pm on April 4th, 2020.
