Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(August 3, 2019)

MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 6:02pm by our Club President, Ted Knapp at the Roundtable Pizza, in Burien, WA.

ATTENDENCE:
August’s Club meeting was attended by 25 members.

GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
No new members or guests attended this Club Meeting.

SECRETARIES REPORT:

Wally Santella read the August Secretaries Report and July’s meeting minutes were posted to the Club Website.

TREASURES REPORT:
Tom Willett presented the July Treasures Report and provided the Club’s financial details for the period of July 1, 2019 thru July 31, 2019.

CORRESPONDENCE:
Wally Santella reported that there was no new correspondence received for the month of July. 

GUEST SPEAKER OF THE MONTH:
There was non guest speaker for the month of August.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

2020 TIGERS ON THE COLUMBIA (TOTC) Plans – Ted Knapp reported that a contract has been reviewed, negotiated and signed with the Red Lion Hotel to secure it as our main venue for the 2020 Tigers on the Columbia event.  Ted also reported that he has signed a contract with the City of Richland – Parks Department to secure the Howard Amon Park as our Car Show grounds for the 2020 Tigers on the Columbia.  Ted added that he is exploring the possibility of a Brewery Tour as a Sunday Activity.

2021 TIGERS ON THE COLUMBIA (TOTC) Plans – Ted Knapp reported that a contract has been reviewed, negotiated and signed to secure the Red Lion Hotel as our main venue for the 2021 Tigers on the Columbia event. 

2019 Club Christmas/Banquest/Meeting – Bob Weiss updated the membership that he will need our banquet meal choices 2 months before the December 7th event date.
  

OLD BUSINESS:
Tom Willett made some initial suggestions for next year’s scholarship efforts but after a short discussion, he left it to have more definitive discussions at next month’s Club meeting.

John Lund’s GTOAA Future Legends Article – Ted Knapp asked John Lund if he has made any progress yet on writing an feature article on his 67 GTO.  John explained that he is in the middle of moving to his new home, which is not ready for occupancy yet, and because he had to sell his other house which had been on the market, he and Susan are living in a trailer, as a  temporary solution, and everything is packed away at the moment. 

Drag Racing – Gary Tischer – Gary was not at this meeting so and update on progress to date was not available.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

2019 XXX Muscle Car Meet – Wally Santella reviewed the Event Plan for this event and went over the volunteer staff.  Wally stressed the main components of this years show, including Gate, Registration Desk, Voting Ballot Entry, and award presentation.

WWFirebirds All Pontiac Show-n-Shine – August 18th. Ted and Wally stressed the need for our membership to show up for their show as they support our events better than any other club. 

Mark Bilyeu Memorial Pontiac Picnic-In-The Park – August 24th – Ted Knapp will provide the smoked pulled pork sandwiches and show is open to all cars & bikes with no registration or fees.

2019 NW American Muscle Car Show – Sunday, September 8th – Wally Santella & Jim Braden will start getting sponsors secured and G-Man ready.  Wally will review details with Volunteer Team at the September Club Meeting.  Online Registration will be turned on on August 15th.

2019 Annual Christmas Club Meeting and Awards – December 7th.  Contract is signed with ACT 3 Catering and banquet menu choices must be made by October 7th.

 

SHOP TALK:  Wally Santella reported that he plans to return to the 1968 GTO Convertible frame-off restoration project by September 9th.  Wally says there has been no progress on this project since he hurt his leg back in February.

50/50 RAFFLE:  No 50/50 Raffle was held, since Gary Tischer was not at this meeting.

MEETING ADJORNED:

The club’s business meeting adjourned at 7:30pm by our President, Ted Knapp.  Our next meeting will be at the Round Table Pizza, in Burien, on September 7th, at 6:00pm.
