Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(May 5, 2023)
MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 7:04pm by our President, Bill Nelson at Amante Pizza and Pasta, in Kent, WA.
ATTENDANCE:
The meeting total attendance was 18.
GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
Two guests and no new members attended this Club Meeting.
SECRETARY’S REPORT:
Bob Stevenson read a condensed version of the April club meeting minutes.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
There was no treasurer’s report as Tom Willett was absent, however, Bill Nelson reported the club’s account balance.
CORRESPONDENCE:
There was no correspondence received recently.
GUEST SPEAKER OF THE MONTH:
The guest speaker was Alan Thompson from Digi-Point. They produce the trophies for the club. Alan showed merchandise that will feature either the club logo or the Tigers on the Columbia event logo. He will have window flags available at the Thursday cruise to Wenatchee and all items will be available at the Wenatchee event. He displayed the flags, license plate frames, stickers, tumblers and insulated bottles. Registered Tigers attendees will receive two stickers in their event bag.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Wally Santella provided some updates on the Tigers on the Columbia event. Our goal is to have 50% of our members attend. As of this meeting date, 63 cars are registered along with 181 room nights. We have 88 people and 44 cars signed up for the Friday car cruise and 30 for the Sunday dinner. The block of hotel rooms at the Coast Hotel for this event will be released to the public today, May 5. Bill Nelson reported that the Thursday cruise to the event will leave from the truck stop on I-90 at 10am, and then stop in Cle Elum for lunch (location TBD). A third stop will be on the north side of Blewitt Pass at The Rock House. Charles Stumpel will be the Friday cruise leader, leaving from the same place and at the same time as Thursday’s. Charles will also conduct the 50/50 raffle. The Firebird club is still planning some type of cruise or event Friday, this is TBD. The Gales reported that there will be a small silent auction along with the raffle prizes. Ted Knapp will be signing a contract for the Tigers on the Columbia event in Wenatchee for 2025, which can be cancelled with no penalty if we decide to change plans. Ted reminded the group that we have a private parking lot in the rear of the hotel at this year’s event for cars and trailers.
OLD BUSINESS:
Bill Nelson reported that GTOAA has not found suitable venues for a National Convention in our state for 2026.
NEW BUSINESS:
The POCI club will have a cruise in at Griots Garage in Tacoma on July 16th. The Firebird club will have a car show Sunday, August 20th in Mountlake Terrace at the Evergreen Play Field. Check their website for details at www.wwfirebirds.com
2023 Event schedule:
Tigers on the Columbia: May 25-28 in Wenatchee
Muscle Car Show at Griot’s: June 25
Muscle Car Meet at XXX: Aug 6
Picnic at Ted’s: Aug 19.
50/50 RAFFLE: Gary Tischer collected $89 for the raffle, which was split in half between the club and Jim Braden, the winner.
SHOP TALK: Wally and several others discussed projects they are working on.
MEETING ADJOURNED:
The club’s business meeting adjourned at 8:05pm by our President, Bill Nelson. The next club meeting will be Saturday, June 3rd at 6:00pm at Amante Pizza and Pasta, 21020 84th Ave South, Kent, WA.
